ZINC PCA
INCI: Zinc PCA
What is Zinc PCA?
Zinc PCA is a zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA). Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid is obtained by the cyclization of an amino acid called glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is a kind of amino acid that is naturally produced by the human body. It is hygroscopic and forms the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) of the skin. Therefore, zinc PCA is used as a useful ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products.
Use & Benefits:
Humectant: Zinc PCA helps retain moisture in the skin by attracting and absorbing water from the atmosphere in the form of vapors. This enhances the water retention capacity of the skin and makes it appear softer, smoother, and more hydrated.
Antimicrobial: Zinc PCA's antimicrobial property helps reduce infections like acne and dandruff from hair.
Skin conditioning agent: Zinc PCA helps shed dead cells from the skin and protects it from infections, while also reducing inflammations caused by infections.
Sebum secretion control: Zinc PCA helps control secretion from the sebum glands, which can reduce inflammation and promote the growth of healthy hair.
Versatile use: Zinc PCA is used in a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products, including creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, conditioners, bath products, and other skin and hair care products.
