What is Triticum vulgare germ oil?
Wheat germ glycerides are obtained from the plant Triticum vulgare, of the family Graminaceae. It is commonly known as the wheat plant. The wheat plant is one of the most abundantly cultivated crops throughout the world. It is one of the most abundantly eaten cereals in the world. Apart from being used in food, the seeds are also used for their medicinal properties. Two parts of the seed, namely the bran, the outer covering of the seed, and the germ, the part of the seed that will grow into a new plant, are used. The oil obtained from the germ of the seed is a clear, yellow liquid with a grain-like odor. It is rich in essential nutrients like vitamin E, fatty acids, octacosanol, and some other nutrients. It is used in medicines and also as a useful ingredient in cosmetic products. Wheat germ glycerides are used in a variety of cosmetic products. It has emollient and skin conditioning properties.
