Trideceth-6

TRIDECETH-6

INCI: Trideceth-6

What is Trideceth-6?

Trideceth-6 is an organic compound formed by reacting polyethylene glycol and tridecyl alcohol. It consists of 6 repeating units of ethylene oxide, and sometimes it is derived from vegetable oil.

Use & Benefits:

Emulsifying agent: Trideceth-6 functions as an emulsifier and gives a product a stable form. The oil- and water-based components of the product have a natural tendency to separate into their constituents. An emulsifier stabilizes the product, prevents separation of the components, and enables even distribution of the product components into both phases uniformly when used.

Surfactant: Trideceth-6 lowers the surface tension between two phases of a product such as a solid phase and a liquid phase or two liquid phases. Its unique structural qualities enable it to hold both phases together. It has a water-loving center and an oil-loving end in its structure.

Cleaning agent: Trideceth-6 attracts dirt, oil, and other impurities accumulated on the surface of the skin with the fat-loving parts, which can then be washed off easily with water with the aid of the water-loving part. This is the mechanism by which our skin gets cleansed with a surface active agent.

Use in cosmetics: Trideceth-6 is used in the formulations of creams, lotions, gels, and other skin and hair care products.
