What is Titanium Dioxide?
Titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral. It is an oxide of the mineral titanium, with the chemical formula TiO2. It is extracted from its naturally occurring mineral ores, ilmenite and rutile. It is a white crystalline powder with a characteristic odor. TiO2 has a wide variety of uses such as a pigment in paints and varnishes, as an opacifier and thickener in the making of plastics, paper, medicines, and the food industry.
