What is Thymus vulgaris oil?
Thyme oil is obtained from the thyme plant. It is also known as Thymus vulgaris, of the family Lamiaceae. It is an aromatic, perennial, evergreen plant. It is grown in a number of different countries throughout the world. Thyme leaves are used for culinary purposes. The oil is extracted from the plant by the process of steam distillation. The oil is a light to amber-colored liquid with a characteristic odor. It consists of compounds like thymol and carvacrol. It is used as an antiseptic and to treat various other ailments.

- Masking agent: Due to its aroma, the oil is also used as a masking agent and fragrance. As a masking agent, it masks the undesirable smell of other ingredients present in the product.
