What is Thymus vulgaris extract?
Thyme extract is obtained from thyme plants. It is also known as Thymus vulgaris, of the family Lamiaceae. It is an aromatic, perennial, evergreen plant. It is grown in a number of different countries throughout the world. Thyme leaves are used for culinary purposes. The extract and oil extracted from the plant are a light to amber-colored liquid with a characteristic odor. It consists of compounds like myrcene, linalool, p-cymene, and borneol. There are several types of thyme, but common thyme and lemon thyme are the most commonly used in cooking. Thyme has a spicier flavor than oregano, with an earthy, pungent flavor.
