What is Spiraea ulmaria extract?

Meadowsweet extracts from a perennial herb Spiraea ulmaria. It mostly grows in damp meadows and wet woods. It is found in most parts of Europe and Western Asia. It has delicate creamy-white flowers in a cluster with a sweet smell. The whole plant has a pleasant taste and flavor. It is also called a strewing herb. Meadowsweet extract is obtained from leaves or blossoms of the plant. It contains salicylate derivatives, tannins, flavonols, heparin, mucilage, carbohydrate, ascorbic acid, minerals and sugar.

As mentioned earlier, it contains salicylate derivatives, which are closely related to aspirin. This molecule gives the extract its anti-inflammatory properties.
