What is Sodium Tallowate?
Sodium tallowate is formed by reacting fatty acids present in tallow with an alkali like sodium hydroxide. Tallow is fat obtained from the fatty tissues of animals like sheep and cattle. It consists of fatty acids like oleic acid, stearic acid, and linoleic acid. It reacts with an alkali like sodium hydroxide to form sodium tallowate. It is mainly used as an ingredient in personal care products.
