What is Salix alba bark extract?
Willow bark extract is obtained from the plant Salix alba, commonly known as white willow, due to the white tone present on the underside of its leaves. It is a medium to large-sized deciduous tree, native to Europe and Western and Central Asia. The tree is mainly used for its wood, making baskets, etc. The extract obtained from the bark contains compounds like salicin and salicylic acid, which make it important medicinally. Salix alba extract, obtained from the bark of the tree, is used in a variety of cosmetic products. It functions as an astringent, anti-microbial, soothing, and skin and hair conditioning agent.
