What is Salix alba bark extract?
White willow, also known as Salix alba, is named for its leaves which have a white tone on the underside. It is a medium to large sized deciduous tree, native to Europe, Western, and Central Asia. The tree is mainly used for its wood in making baskets, etc. The extract obtained from the bark contains compounds such as salicin and salicylic acid, which make it important medicinally. White willow extract is used in a variety of cosmetic products, functioning as an astringent, anti-microbial, soothing, and skin and hair conditioning agent.
