RESVERATROL

INCI: Resveratrol.

What is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a natural polyphenolic compound produced by several plants. It is also a phytoalexin meaning it is produced by plants in response to the attack by pathogens or other stress. Several food items like grapes, blueberries, peanuts, pistachio, contain resveratrol. Its health-benefiting properties have been scientifically proven for many years. It is used as a dietary supplement and in various other cosmetics products. So, it works inside out in the case of skincare.

Use & Benefits:

Resveratrol is used in cosmetic products as an antioxidant, antiaging, anti-inflammatory, and skin-soothing agent. During normal metabolic processes our body produces free radicals, but when our body is under any kind of stress or inflammation, it produces more free radicals. These free radicals as well as oxidizing agents present in the atmosphere (pollutants, chemicals) alter the structure and function of various skin structures including skin protein collagen and elastin. Thus, faulty production of skin cells may lead to damaged, loose, and prematurely aged skin. Antioxidants defuse these free radicals and help reverse the damage caused. The skin may get its tightness, and luster back upon reversal of the damage. It also soothes any irritation or redness on the skin, since it also acts as an anti-inflammatory.   It is used in formulations of creams, lotions, gels, make-up products, eye contour, and other skincare products.
