INCI: Palmitoyl tripeptide-38
What is Palmitoyl tripeptide-38?
Palmitoyl tripeptide is a synthetic peptide composed of three amino acids. It is a combination of a peptide chain with three amino acids namely lysine, dioxymethiony, and, lysil attached to palmitic acid. It is also known as Matrixyl synthe 6. It forms part of the “ Matrikine-mimetic compound” with a significant role in the synthesis of elastin and collagen. It activates or signals the pathway which leads to the synthesis of key constituents. It is a clear liquid, odorless, and water-soluble.
Use & Benefits:
Palmitoyl tripeptide-38 penetrated deeply into the layers of the skin and activates the synthesis of six major components collagen-I, II, IV, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid, and laminin5. Gradually the skin protein realigns and forms newer cells. As a result, tighter and firm epithelium makes the skin look younger. It in turn reduces wrinkles and fine lines formed on the skin due to aging. IN case of any trauma on the skin, it also boosts healing and reduces inflammation. Palmitic acid protects the skin as an anti-oxidant by reducing the damage caused by free radicals. Although peptides are well-tolerated by many users still it is advisable to contact a skin expert to find out which peptides may suit your skin. It is used mainly in formulations of anti-aging creams, anti-wrinkle creams, and serums.
