What is Methylisothiazolinone?
Methylisothiazolinone, also known as, MIT in a shorter form, is a preservative containing Sulphur and nitrogen. It comes as a light-yellow transparent liquid.
Use & Benefits:
MIT is mainly an antibacterial. Protection from bacterial contamination is very much important when the product is stored on the shelf, however, it is even more important when a product is under use by customers. There are more chances of contamination when it is already in use. Preservatives not only keep the microorganism in check but also provides stability to the product. Contaminated products may show changes in color, odor or appearance. It is also compatible with any other preservative so that the product can get a wider range of protection. It is used in shampoos, bath gels, hair conditioners, liquid soaps, sunscreens, and body milk and creams.
