What is Lagerstroemia indica extract?

Lagestoremia Indica is commonly known as crepe flower, the crepe myrtle is multi-stemmed tree and believed to bear blossoms for the longest duration (2-3 months). It is native to Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and Korea. The flower and / or entire plant can be used for medicinal as well as cosmetic purposes. The extract contains various ingredients such as alpha-tocopherol, gamma-sitosterol, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, phytol, squalene, decinine, decamine, decidine, lagerine, etc.

In the cosmetic industry it is not very historic invention, it has come into picture for past decade. It contains vitamin E derivative, which can act as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Also, various researches have shown that it can improve skin condition by blocking collagenase enzyme effect. Meaning it can halt collagen degradation and can delay aging effect. By fighting with damaging free radicals, it may revive skin and bring the natural glow and softness back. It forms a layer on the top of skin or hair and forms a film that holds back the moisture within the skin. That way it moisturizes the skin and conditions it. It is usually found in skin and facial care products.
