What is Lactoperoxidase?
Lactoperoxidase, in shorter form known as LPO, is an enzyme that is naturally found in milk. It is structurally a glycoprotein.

It is a useful enzyme since it has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Also, it is mentioned in the Journal of applied biology, that it can be used to treat acne since it can eliminate acne-causing bacteria. When it is used in a particular combination (With iodide, thiocyanate, glucose oxidase and glucose) it can be used to prevent growth of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. It is used in combination with various systems such as lipo systems as nourishing agents, moisturizing agents, etc. It is used in skincare, hair care products as well as in toiletries.
