What is Germaben II?
Germaben is a preservative system, which contains two preservatives- methyl paraben and propyl paraben, A urea salt- diazodinyl urea and propylene glycol as a vehicle. It is a viscous and clear liquid in appearance. It has a mild but characteristic odor.
Use & Benefits:
Germaben II is used as a broad spectrum preservative. In emulsion related products such as creams, lotions, shampoos, and hair conditioners. This preservative system is able to dissolve easily from as little as 1.0% in formulations which is a better alternative to normal solid paraben which tends to not mix well in most complex formulations that include herbal extracts, soluble collagen-containing products, proteins, and certain surfactants. Germaben II can withstand a wide pH range. It is also used successfully used in cosmetics, leave-on and rinse-off formulations, face and body washes, hair care products, body care, and sun care products also. It is a preservative sold by Ashland Specialty Chemical.
