What is Gelatin?
Gelatin is has been known for many years, Its often used for food purposes or medicinal purposes. It comes as a colorless, flavorless and translucent powder, sheet or granules. It is derived from bones, connective tissues, and skin of animals. Mostly, collagen is obtained from animal skin and bones, it is hydrolyzed irreversibly to get gelatin. In this process, protein is reduced into smaller peptides. It is soluble in water and forms a gel-like structure. It contains many important amino acids.
Use & Benefits:
It is used as a thickener in many products, to obtain desired consistency. When applied on skin it forms an occlusive layer, which prevents water loss from the skin. It is found in topical creams, moisturizer and conditioners for curly/coily hair.References
