What is Citrus aurantifolia peel extract or Key lime?
Lime or Citrus aurantifolia belongs to the orange family. It is the most widely used fruit in almost the entire world and the most useful too. Lime fruit, fruit pulp, peel, and seed are very much useful for cosmetics. Lime is a vitamin C booster, apart from it, entire lime fruit has vitamins, minerals, essential oils, phenolic compounds, carotenoids, cellulosic material, and soluble carbohydrates. The exocarp contains cellulosic material, fatty acids, paraffin waxes, bitter principles, steroids, essential oils, and enzymes. Seeds of lime fruits are generally considered as a waste, are cold pressed in a food processing industry, and oil is obtained. This oil is a fixed oil, which is then purified, it has significant lime fragrance too. It is a pale-yellow colored liquid with a significant amount of fatty oil full of fatty acids like palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, etc.
