What is Citrullus colocynthis or Bitter apple?
Citrullus colocynthis is also known as bitter apple or desert guard. It is native to Asian and African deserted areas and known for its traditional antidiabetic use. Shoot extract has been proposed for use as an antiaging agent. It contains palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic and linoleic acid. Apart from those, it also contains alkaloids, phenolic acids, flavonoids, alpha-tocopherol, and beta-carotene.
