What is CI 75470 our Carmine?
Carmine is natural color or aluminum lake. It has been used historically for the same purpose and approved by the FDA for use in the food industry. It is extracted from ‘coccus cacti’ or ‘cochineal’ female betel insect which is found in the seashore in South America. It is a bright strawberry red to a pink shade. It is quite stable on the shelf and unaltered by environmental factors.
