Dehydrated skin is defined as skin that doesn’t have a sufficient water level and hydration. Often we can confuse dehydrated skin with dry skin due to the fact that they both share similar symptoms. However, the difference between them is related to the origin of the problem.
One of the most characteristic symptoms of water loss is skin peeling. However other symptoms that indicate that our skin has insufficient water content include a tired looking face; dark circles around the eyes and dull skin. This can also increase tightness and dryness, especially when once we had a shower or bath.
It’s important to emphasize that having dehydrated skin doesn’t go hand in hand with having dry skin, despite sharing similar symptoms such as:
For a skin to be healthy and have elasticity, it must have the correct levels of water (approximately 15% of the body's total water)
There are several factors why our skin loses the correct level of water we need for our skin to stay hydrated:
As we have explained, dehydrated skin can occur in all types of skin, regardless of whether you have oily or dry skin. Although it is usually easier to confuse dehydrated for dry skin since they have very similar symptoms. However, here are some of the differences:
Water levels are insufficient, regardless of the number of oils the skin has.
A skin type that doesn’t produce enough lipids (which can lead to not having the correct water levels).
So that we have hydrated skin again, it is very important to have a healthy lifestyle and to use care products that include a balance of oils and moisturizing ingredients (that retain water) for the specific type of skin you have. For example, our line of base creams for dry skin include a greater number of essential oils, and that of oily skin contains a higher percentage of active ingredients that retain moisture without adding more oil to the skin.
Once we have a moisturizing cream, such as the Lesielle base, which ensures the correct supply of essential oils and moisture retaining ingredients, it is time to choose the correct treatment we need. This choice is based on our personalized intention (anti-aging, anti-blemish ...) we simply add the active ingredients to the base cream of our choice and “vouloir”. Let’s help you out with some options:
Adjusting the level of hydration in your skin is just one of the advantages of adaptive cosmetics!
