What is Aluminum Sulfate?
Cake alum or Aluminum sulfate is formed by reaction between alumina and sulfuric acid in an aqueous environment. It is then dried to get colorless crystals. It is soluble in water.

It is used mainly in antiperspirants and deodorants, due to its ability to impede perspiration as well by its antibacterial effect. It can effectively eliminate odor. It also gives skin tightening and tingling sensation, so it is also an astringent.
