What is Actinidia chinesis fruit extract?
Kiwi fruit is a nutritious fruit, scientifically known as Actinidia chinesis fruit. It is native to southwest mountains of China. There are two different varieties of kiwi fruit- green and gold. The gold may be considered a hairless variety. It has maximum content of vitamin C amongst all other fruits. It also has vitamin E, folate, potassium, sugar, protein- actinidin and kiwellin; and dietary fibers. The extract of the fruit is colorless to light yellow liquid.

It contains many antioxidant compounds like vitamin C and E, which can protect skin from environmental free radical damage, improves skin structure and also provides an antiaging effect. It has skin hydrating effect because of its specific amino acid- polysaccharide complex. It adds to the skin’s natural moisturizing factor just below the lipid layer of the epidermis. When the skin is properly hydrated, it becomes healthier and stronger to external stimuli such as pollutants, dust, and allergens. It has fruit acids (AHAs), which gives mild exfoliating effect on the skin. Thus, it also helps improve skin tone by eliminating the dead skin cell layer. It contains various vitamins and minerals so when the extract is applied on the skin it nourishes the skin as well by replenishing missing contents. It is used in skin brightening creams, lotions, ointments and bath products.
