YUCCA EXTRACT
INCI: Yucca schidigera leaf/stem/root extract
What is Yucca schidigera leaf/stem/root extract?
Yucca extract is obtained from the plant Yucca schidigera of the family Liliaceae. It is also known as Spanish dagger or Mojave yucca. It is a flowering plant that is mainly grown in deserts and is native to the Mojave Desert, Sonoran desert of California, New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona. The plant was used by Native Americans to make cloth, ropes, and edible flowers and fruits. In addition, the extract obtained from the plant is used as herbal medicine.
Use & Benefits:
Astringent: It usually constricts the pores of the skin and reduces the secretion of excess oil from the skin, thereby reducing the chances of infections and redness.
Skin Cleansing: It cleans the skin of dust and grime, evens out the skin tone, and brightens it up.
Surfactant: It works as a surfactant by lowering the surface tension between two product components, such as two liquids or a liquid and a solid. It contains water-loving and fat-loving chemical groups in the same molecule. The fat-loving part attracts dirt, oil, and other impurities accumulated on the skin's surface, which can be washed off easily with water with the water-loving end.
Foaming Agent: Due to its foaming property, it is used in cleansing products. It is used in formulations of shampoos, conditioners, skin cleansing, and other skin and hair care products.
