What is Xymenynic acid?
Xymenynic acid" is a long-chain acetylenic acid. It is also known as "11-octadecen-9-ynoic acid" with a chemical formula of C18H30O2. It occurs naturally in the seed kernels of the Ximenia species and is extracted from the seed kernels of Santalum obtusifolium or sandalwood plant. It is primarily used as an ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products
Use & Benefits:
Emollient: Forms a thin film on the surface of the skin when used, preventing or curing dryness, scaling, or patch development. Fills up gaps between dead cells and cracks, forming a barrier and protecting the skin from allergens, bacteria, and irritants that pass into deeper skin layers leading to acne, eczema, dryness, and itchiness.
Anti-inflammatory: Believed to block the inflammatory pathways in the skin and hinder the inflammation process. Reduces itchiness, redness, and inflammation from the skin. Soothes and calms the skin.
Skin Conditioning Agent: Used in formulations of creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, conditioners, and other skin and hair care products.
