What is Uncaria tomentosa extract?
Uncaria tomentosa extract is obtained from the plant Uncaria tomentosa of the Rubiaceae family. It is a woody vine, also called cat’s claw, due to its claw-shaped thorns on the tree. The plant is found in the tropical forests of South and Central America. The root bark is used to obtain the extract, which is rich in compounds such as tannins, triterpenes, and sterols. It is used as a traditional medicine to cure infections and inflammations.
