What is Ubiquinone?
Ubiquinone is a kind of quinone which occurs naturally in aerobic organisms, from bacteria to the human body. It is also called coenzyme Q-10. The number 10 represents the number of repeating units of isoprene present in the molecule. Ubiquinone is present in the mitochondria of cells and is required for the generation of energy in the cell. It was first identified in the year 1940 and was first isolated in 1957 from beef heart cells. It is taken as a dietary supplement.
