What is Tryptophan?
Tryptophan is a kind of amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are required for many essential functions in the human body and for the sustenance of life. Tryptophan is an amino acid that can be found in both plants and animals. Tryptophan is not synthesized in the human body, so it must be obtained from natural sources like meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and other vegetables. It was first isolated by Frederick Hopkins in 1901 from hydrolyzed casein. Many organs in the body require tryptophan to function properly. It is used as a dietary supplement in addition to its use in cosmetic and personal care products. Tryptophan has also been used to help with facial pain, bruxism (tooth grinding), and sports performance.
