TRIDECETH-12
INCI: Trideceth-12
What is Trideceth-12?
Trideceth-12 is an organic compound formed by reacting polyethylene glycol with tridecyl alcohol. It consists of 12 repeating units of ethylene oxide. Trideceth-12 is used as a useful ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products.
Use & Benefits:
- Emulsifying Agent: Trideceth-12 functions as an emulsifier that offers stability to the product. It stabilizes the product, inhibits component separation, and allows for equitable dispersion of the product's components.
- Surfactant Properties: As a surfactant, it reduces the surface tension between two product components, such as two liquids or a liquid and a solid. It has a hydrophilic end and a hydrophobic end.
- Cleansing Action: It collects dirt, oil, and other pollutants that have accumulated on the skin's surface, which can then be readily rinsed away with water.
- Prevents Silicone Buildup: Trideceth-12 prevents the buildup of a silicone layer present in hair styling products from damaging the hair.
- Versatility in Products: It is used in a variety of formulations, including shampoos, conditioners, creams, lotions, gels, and other skin and hair care products.
