What is Tribehenin PEG-20 Esters?
Tribehenin PEG-20 ester is a compound formed by the transesterification of Tribehenin and PEG. Tribehenin is a type of long-chain fatty acid, and PEG is a polymer of polyethylene glycol. This compound is used as a useful ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products.

- Emollient Properties: Tribehenin PEG-20 ester acts as an emollient, filling in the spaces between the skin's dead cells. It makes the skin appear soft and smoother. It produces a thin layer on the skin's surface.
- Barrier Formation: It forms a barrier and protects the skin from allergies, bacteria, and irritants that pass into the deeper layers of the skin, potentially preventing skin disorders such as acne, eczema, dryness, and itching.
- Moisture Retention: It helps to maintain moisture in the skin, making it appear softer, smoother, and healthier.
- Surfactant Functionality: As a surfactant, Tribehenin PEG-20 esters lower the surface tension between two components of the product, like two liquids or a liquid and a solid. It has a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic end, collecting dirt, oil, and other pollutants from the skin's surface, which can then be readily rinsed away with water.
- Emulsifier Stability: It offers stability to the product as an emulsifier. The oil and water-based components of the product are separated into their constituents. When utilized, an emulsifier stabilizes the product, inhibits component separation, and allows for equitable dispersion of the product's components.
- Versatile Usage: It is used in formulations of facial care products, shampoos, conditioners, sun care, and other skin and hair care products.
