What is Tranexamic Acid?
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic compound that inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin. It was first synthesized by Japanese researchers Shosuke and Utako Okamoto in 1962. It is mainly used to prevent excessive blood loss due to trauma, during surgery, or childbirth, etc.

- Astringent: Tranexamic acid functions as an astringent, reducing and constricting the pores of the skin.
- Skin Whitening: It acts as a skin whitening agent, helping to even out skin tone and reduce hyperpigmentation.

- Skin Condition Treatment: Used to treat skin conditions like melasma, which involves dark spots and hyperpigmentation caused by melanin production when exposed to UV radiation.
- Melanin Production Inhibition: As an anti-plasmin, it reduces the production of melanin pigment, responsible for dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
- Cosmetic Formulations: Used in the formulation of skincare products, shower gels, bath products, and other hair and skincare products.
