What is Tartaric acid?
Tartaric acid is a kind of organic acid. It occurs naturally in plants like grapes and tamarind. It is a type of alpha hydroxy acid and was first extracted from the residue left after winemaking. It was first chemically extracted in 1769 by chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele. It has several uses like making wines, in pharmaceuticals, and also as an ingredient in cosmetic products.
