TALLOW
INCI: Tallow
What is Tallow?
Tallow is a kind of fat obtained from sheep and other cattle. It mainly consists of fatty acids and other glycerides like oleic acid, myristic, stearic, and linoleic acid. Tallow occurs in the form of white to cream-colored soft, waxy solid. It is used in products like soap making and in food items.
Use & Benefits:
- Surfactant Property: Lowers the surface tension between product components, facilitating mixing between liquids or a liquid and a solid. Contains hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends to attract dirt, oil, and impurities, making them easy to wash off with water.
- Emulsifying Property: Provides product stability by preventing separation of oil and water-based components. Stabilizes the product, inhibits component separation, and allows for equitable dispersion of components in formulations of soaps, detergents, shampoos, makeup products, and other personal care items.
