What is Sucrose?
Sucrose is the common table sugar. It is a disaccharide containing glucose and fructose as monomers. Sucrose is obtained from its natural sources of sugarcane and sugar beet juice. It is obtained by pressing or diffusion, evaporation, and clarification of the juices. The term sucrose was coined by English chemist William Miller in 1857. It is mainly used as a flavoring agent in food and beverages, in addition to its use in cosmetic and personal care products.
