What is Sorbic acid?
Sorbic acid, or 2,4-hexadienoic acid, is an organic compound. It is a natural straight-chain fatty acid, first isolated from unripe berries of the plant Sorbus aucuparia. It is a white, free-flowing powder, slightly soluble in water. It was first isolated in 1859 by A.W. von Hofmann.

- Preservative Concentration: Sorbic acid is used as a preservative in a variety of cosmetic products at a concentration of 0.05-0.3%.
