SODIUM PALMATE
INCI: Sodium palmate
What is Sodium palmate?
Sodium palmate is a chemical compound formed by reacting fatty acids obtained from palm oil and sodium hydroxide through a saponification reaction. In soap production and cosmetics, it is used as a base ingredient. Palm oil is used to make sodium palmate, which is a key ingredient in many forms of soap. It is frequently combined with sodium cocoate, coconut oil sodium salt, and sodium tallow, a sodium salt of animal fat. Palm oil is obtained from the kernels of palm trees
Use & Benefits:
Surfactant: Sodium palmate functions as a surfactant, reducing the surface tension between two product components, such as two liquids or a liquid and a solid. It has two ends, one hydrophilic and the other hydrophobic, and collects dirt, oil, and other pollutants that have accumulated on the skin's surface, which can then be easily rinsed away with water.
Emulsifier: It offers product stability as an emulsifier, separating the oil and water-based components of the product into their constituents. An emulsifier stabilizes the product, inhibits component separation, and allows for equitable dispersion of the product's components.
Use in formulations: Sodium palmate is used in formulations of facial care, facial cleansing, baby care, and bath products.
