What is Sodium palm kernelate?
Sodium palm kernelate is a compound formed by reacting fatty acids present in palm kernel oil with sodium hydroxide. Palm kernel oil is obtained from the seeds of palm trees, and it is used as a useful ingredient in personal care products.
Use & Benefits:
Emulsifying Agent: Sodium palm kernelate functions as an emulsifying agent, offering stability to the product by separating the oil and water-based components of the product into their constituents. When utilized, an emulsifier stabilizes the product, inhibits component separation, and allows for equitable dispersion of the product's components.
Cleansing Agent: Sodium palm kernelate works as a cleansing agent and surfactant, reducing the surface tension between two product components, such as two liquids or a liquid and a solid. With its two ends, one hydrophilic and the other hydrophobic, it collects dirt, oil, and other pollutants that have accumulated on the skin's surface, which may then be readily rinsed away with water.
Viscosity-Controlling Agent: Sodium palm kernelate also controls the viscosity of the product, making it less runny.
