What is Salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid is the most commonly used lipophilic hydroxybenzoic acid. It is obtained from its natural source, the bark of willow trees, by converting salicin to salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is listed in the WHO's list of essential medicines as the safest and most effective medicine. It is a fine white, colorless powder used in a variety of cosmetic products.
