PPG-12/SDMI copolymer is a synthetic compound formed from methylene diphenyldiisocyanate and polypropylene glycol monomers.

PPG-12/SDMI copolymer functions as an emollient and film-forming, hair fixing, and skin conditioning agent in cosmetic products. Our body produces free radicals due to exposure to environmental factors like radiation, pollution, and other toxic chemicals. These free radicals break down collagen, hinders the skin repair process. It leads to inflammation, fine lines, wrinkles, and infections like acne and dark spots. PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer as an antioxidant scavenges these free radicals and reduces these visible signs of aging. It brightens up the skin, stimulates collagen production, and makes skin healthier and more youthful. As a film-forming agent when applied on the hair or skin, they form a supple, cohesive, and continuous layer. This layer/film has water-binding properties that leave a silky and smooth effect on the skin and also conditions it. It forms a thin film on hair when used and keeps the hair hydrated and styled. It is used in formulations of sun care and skin and hair care products.
