What is Juglans regia (Walnut) seed extract?
Walnut extract is obtained from the plant Juglans regia, commonly called a walnut tree. It is a large deciduous tree that bears fruit. The seeds inside the fruits are edible and have a rich flavor. It is native to the Balkans, the eastern region of the Himalayas, and southwest China. It is now also widely cultivated in parts of Europe. The seed of the plant has high nutritional value and is used in foodstuffs as well as herbal medicine. The extract obtained from the seeds consists of compounds like polyphenols, ferulic acid, vanillic acid, juglone, and other phytochemicals. Cosmetics and personal care items also include it.
