YERBA MATE EXTRACT

INCI: Ilex paraguariensis extract

What is Ilex paraguariensis extract?

Yerba mate extract is obtained from the yerba mate plant, also known as Ilex paraguariensis. This plant is native to South America, and the extract is obtained from its leaves. For more information, refer to Ilex paraguariensis.

Use & Benefits:

Antioxidant properties: Yerba mate extract contains high levels of antioxidants, which help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and contribute to the development of various skin concerns, such as premature aging, dullness, and hyperpigmentation.

Anti-inflammatory properties: Yerba mate extract has anti-inflammatory properties, which help to soothe and calm irritated skin. This makes it particularly beneficial for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Anti-aging benefits: Yerba mate extract is rich in compounds such as polyphenols and xanthines, which have been shown to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These compounds work by promoting collagen production and improving skin elasticity.

Moisturizing properties: Yerba mate extract is also known for its moisturizing properties. It helps to hydrate and nourish the skin, leaving it soft, supple, and glowing.

Protects against UV damage: Yerba mate extract has been shown to have photoprotective properties, meaning it can help protect the skin from the harmful effects of UV radiation. This makes it an ideal ingredient for use in sunscreens and other UV-protective skincare products.
