SILK
INCI: Hydrolyzed silk
What is Hydrolyzed silk?
Silk is a natural protein fiber that is present in the cocoons of the silk worm, Bombyx mori. The silk protein consists of fibroin and sericin proteins. Silk comes in different types depending on the insect that produces it. Silk is a clear, amber-colored liquid with a characteristic mild odor and is soluble in water. Silk is used to make clothes, medicines, and cosmetic products.
Use & Benefits:
Use in Cosmetic Products: Silk powder is used as a bulking and skin conditioning agent in a variety of cosmetic products. It helps to increase the volume of the product and conditions the skin, making it appear smooth and soft.
Moisture-Holding Capacity: Amino acids contain active groups that have moisture-holding capacity. When applied to the skin, silk powder forms a protective film on the surface, preventing loss of moisture from the skin and keeping it hydrated.
Hair Care: Silk powder is also used in hair care products to retain moisture and keep hair hydrated.
Range of Formulations: Silk powder is a versatile ingredient used in the formulation of creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, conditioners, sun care, and other skin and hair care products.
