YELLOW 6 LAKE
INCI: Cl 15985
What is Cl 15985?
Yellow 6 Lake is an orange-colored azo dye obtained as a petroleum product. It is a lake colorant formed by reacting a straight color with another substrate. The dye has very fine and soft particles, which give a consistent color.
Use & Benefits:
Vegan-friendly: Yellow 6 is commonly thought to be vegan. It is not made from animal products but rather from petroleum.
Animal Testing: However, Yellow 6 is currently being tested on animals to determine its safety. As a result, some vegans avoid using Yellow 6 and other artificial food colors.
Cosmetic and Personal Care Products: Yellow 6 Lake is used in a variety of cosmetic and personal care products. It is used as a colorant to impart an orange or reddish-yellow color to the products.
Food Products: Candy, pastries, baked goods, preserved fruits, snacks, and sauces all include Yellow 6. It is used to generate a brown hue for chocolate and caramel when combined with amaranth.
Skin and Hair Care Products: It is also used in the formulation of creams, lotions, gels, makeup products, shampoos, conditioners, and other skin and hair care products.
