What is Biotin?
Vitamin H is a type of water-soluble vitamin. It is also known as biotin, or Vitamin B7 or B8. It is one of the types of Vitamin B and is required by the body for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and amino acids. It is also required for maintaining healthy skin and hair. - Fuel Production: Biotin is required for the production of fatty acids and glucose, which the body uses as fuel.
- Metabolism Support: It is necessary for the metabolism of amino acids and glucose.
- Deficiency Consequences: Its shortage can cause skin rashes, hair loss, excessive cholesterol levels in the blood, and heart problems.
- Skin and Hair Treatment: Acne, eczema (a form of skin problem), and hair loss can all be treated with biotin.
- Natural Sources: Liver, cauliflower, salmon, carrots, bananas, soy flour, cereals, and yeast are all sources of biotin.
- Dietary Role: Vitamins by themselves will not replace a healthy diet or provide energy. Other nutrients present in food, such as proteins, minerals, carbohydrates, and fats, are required by your body.
- Interdependency: Vitamins cannot do their job without the help of other foods.
