INCI: Lactic acid, Glycolic acid, Citric acid

What is AHA or Lactic acid, Glycolic acid, Citric acid?

Alpha hydroxy acids are weak acids found from fruits, milk, and sugarcane. At concentration above 4%, they act as exfoliating agents. They are either naturally derived or synthetically made. AHA includes lactic acid, glycolic acid, citric acid, 2-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid, and 2-hydroxypentadecanoic acid. However most commonly used acids are lactic acid and glycolic acid.

Use & Benefits:

AHA a family of active ingredients often used in products destined to exfoliation. The degree of exfoliation depends on the specific ingredient, its charactersitics (like lipophilic character) and its pH. It is also useful in an anti-aging regimen. They are not effective in rinse off products for exfoliation since the contact duration for the desired action is too short.
