PPG-26 BUTETH-26

INCI: PPG-26 buteth-26.

What is PPG-26 buteth-26?

PPG-26 buteth-26 is a synthetic polymer of polypropylene glycol and buteth units. It is formed by reacting polypropylene glycol; ethylene oxide reacted in presence of butyl alcohol. It is a colorless or pale-yellow transparent liquid.

Use & Benefits:

PPG-26 Buteth-26 mainly functions as a skin/hair conditioning agent and emulsifier in cosmetic products. When it is used on the surface of the skin or hair, it forms a protective film on the surface of the skin. This layer is protective in nature, not allowing any moisture to escape from the skin. So, it conditions the skin, keeps it lubricated, and improves hydration level. When used in hair it forms a protective layer on the hair and prevents it from drying. It makes it appear softer and silkier. This is particularly useful in skin problems like dry skin gets improved quickly. As an emulsifier, it gives stability to the product. The product with oil and water-based components gets separated into its components, as they need some medium to get mixed. An emulsifier stabilizes the product, prevents separation of the components, and enables even distribution of the product components when used. It is used in formulations of bath products, shampoos, skin cleansers, skin fresheners, and other skin and hair care products.
